PEN Català is part of PEN International, a writers association with headquarters in London, which enjoys special consultative status at the UN and UNESCO. The Catalan center was founded in 1922 and since then it has been a platform for the international projection of Catalan literature. The main values of PEN Català are: cultural diplomacy worldwide, interculturality, commitment to literature, freedom of opinion and expression and safeguard of Catalan literary and linguistic heritage.
